LIFE Story…
Teresa & Frank Morris have been attending Medina Naz for quite a few years now. They have 4 children, Kyle, Colin, and the twins, Kaelyn & Carson. What you might not know is that they also have a daughter, Kendall, who was born with health complications and only lived 10 days.
That kind of tragedy marks you. It changes things…a lot. And yet, after much grief and time and prayer, Teresa and Frank have been living out the words of 2 Corinthians 1:3-4…
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
Here’s a story of how Teresa was able to bring that comfort as she’s loving someone to life…
Teresa has known Bethany since she was 3 years old, although they’d kind of lost touch. But when Bethany found herself pregnant with twins, and the doctors told her that one of them had a fatal defect, Bethany reached out to Teresa. She didn’t know what to do or where to turn, so she thought Teresa might be able to help. It all seemed so overwhelming and tragic, and yet Bethany saw that Teresa seemed to be doing OK, despite the tragedy she’d gone through, so she asked what had helped get Teresa through losing a child.
Teresa saw this as a divine opportunity to show love. She gave Bethany advice for some practical things that she’d wished she’d done. And she told her that prayer had really helped her through. She also directed her to a couple of Christian songs that had been especially meaningful as she and Frank grieved. And Teresa promised to stay in touch with and pray for Bethany.
As Bethany walked through the struggle of knowing one of her babies would likely die, she wondered how she’d be able to rejoice in the birth of her daughter if she had to grieve over the loss of her son. Teresa walked the road with her, talking to her and exchanging messages of hope and encouragement, and when Bethany’s son did in fact die, Teresa continued to give her comfort and support. She prayed. She shared Scripture. And she encouraged Bethany to get back to God and to church, where she could find hope and healing.
Bethany continues to grieve, and Teresa continues to support her. She’s going to church regularly now, and, as Teresa describes it, she’s healing…with God.
Bethany is just one of the people God has been touching through the Morris family. Teresa says that to her, ‘loving someone to life’ simply meant, “getting my friend through an awful time in life.”
What has God brought you through that He might want to use to bring healing to someone else?
